In recognition of the 100th anniversary of this significant milestone in American music, and in conjunction with the Charlie Poole Festival, a symposium of leading historians and musicologists will be held in the Workforce Development Center on the campus of Rockingham Community College on Thursday, June 12 from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm, just before the start of the weekend festival.
Conclude your symposium day with a special indoor concert in the Technology Building auditorium, assembled by Laurelyn Dossett, entitled “Payday at the Mill: Spinning Songs and Stories.” This ticketed event will feature a stellar lineup including Laurelyn Dossett, DaShawn & Wendy Hickman, Mark Dillon, Colin Cutler, Chaisaray Schenk, Tyson Baker and poet, Annie Woodford. Dossett gives the following insight into this special production:
